Ergonomic Office Chairs: The ergonomic chair offers essential support to the back, legs, buttocks, and arms, along with reducing exposures to awkward postures, contact stress, and forceful exertions. The chair must also allow for movement and balance the user’s weight during alternate tensing and relaxing of muscles.

The following elements should be looked for when buying an ergonomic chair. It should be highly adjustable, including height adjustability, along with the possibility of adjusting the back tilt and the height of the arm rests. An Ergonomic Chair should also have a sturdy frame (avoid plastic), a great deal of support, especially in the lumbar region, and padding that has some give and supports your body without losing shape.

Computer Ergonomics: The ergonomic mouse, keyboard and monitor are relevant factors to consider.

There are various alternative mouse types and wrist rests available, such as touch pads, trackballs, fingertip joysticks and plucks. The choice of the perfect pointer can reduce the risk of disorders such as CTS and RSI. It is also important to alternate hands while handling the pointer, as well as to use some keyboard shortcuts in between to reduce the periods that the pointer is used. The placing of the pointer close to the keyboard reduces the chance of awkward posture and forceful exertion.

Ergonomic keyboards such as split keyboards can help to reduce hand deforming injury such as found with rheumatoid arthritis. The key to choosing a keyboard is comfortable usage. It must also be placed at a comfortable distance and directly in front of the user. Height and tilt adjustable keyboards can also add to comfort of use.

It is important to place a PC monitor at the ideal height and distance that is comfortable for the user to avoid eye and posture related injuries. The best placing of a monitor is directly in front of the user, at least 500mm away, with the top line of the monitor below eye level and placed perpendicular to a window. It is also important to set a monitor’s illumination to a comfortable level.

Monitor accessories like Monitor Risers, Monitor Arms, and Laptop Monitor Arms allow more adjustability of your monitor. Monitor Arms adjust for height and can be angled vertically and horizontally. A suspended flat panel above the desk surface also reclaims valuable desk top space.

Office desk Ergonomics: The ergonomic desk is often height adjustable to accommodate different user requirements. It has enough space for the comfortable placing of computer accessories and the user’s legs. The leading edge of the work surface should be wide enough to accommodate the chair arms, to avoid restricted movement and posture. Work surfaces should not cause excessive glare and edges should not have hazardous sharp corners.
